The ‘R’ in ROIL stands for Resin. We like to think that’s because it’s what we’re all about. But we’re also about ‘l’ (legality), ‘d’ (distribution) and ‘i’ (indica/sativa). We spent years developing our recipe, sourcing the baseline oil, and tweaking the equipment in order to make the best shatter available. The end result is the market’s most consistent, top-shelf extract, from our very own tested, dry-heating oven.
We bring you the first interview with one of our favorite Canadian Cannabis Companies, ROIL Extracts. We believe that the first steps to cannablization are the hardest, so we recommend you find a trusted friend or family member who is experienced with the process. We spoke to the owner, Chris from ROIL Extracts, to help us navigate the new world of cannabis extract and shatter.
ROIL Extracts East is hard to miss on Instagram these days, and after seeing a billion pictures of their beautiful clips online, your man was just happy to run into them at a recent cannabis event in DC. Your team generously gave this Jedi a gram of the Skywalker OG Shatter blend to test, and after much testing I can confirm that the Force is powerful with this cigar. Put it on, you have to! Those snacks you brought, huh? While climate scientists are rightly concerned that the planet is rapidly heading for the next extinction, your Lordship fears that another hundred years is an optimistic prediction for modern civilization. The risk of the approaching total solar eclipse tearing the shroud that separates the living, the dead, and the damned is certainly my greatest concern. In my apartment are a box of CLIF bars from Costco, a container of water I consecrated after becoming a Jesuit via the internet, and enough butane to get through the impending apocalypse. Also, the fire works on all types of undead, unless they have some special amulet or boss or something, but I thought of that too and blessed the butane. HOLY FIRE, BITCHES! WHO WANTS!? Either way, it’s hard to get too excited while I’m squirting this Skywalker OG from ROIL Extracts. This is a blend variety, which means that flowers (naga) and trimmings were used to make this almost translucent golden glow. It has a deep, woody aroma with a hint of pepper. The transition from nose to palate is good, and I would be surprised if this aroma didn’t contain a lot of myrcene and caryophyllene. The net effect is a strongly pronounced Indica. This strain causes a strong urge to eat – even if you’ve eaten before, as a seasoned gentleman would – so prepare in advance. You don’t want to wait for the courier when you’re already looking at the packets of sugar hidden in your kitchen drawer that will turn out to be stevia after all.
