A new study conducted over the course of four nights found that cannabis may promote a good night’s sleep. The cannabinoids in marijuana interact with receptors found on nerve cells which affect the way we process information, letting us relax and focus without feeling tired during the day. Experts warn brief use could cause drowsiness or lack of motivation, but say long-term consumption can decrease pain and inflammation for those who suffer from chronic conditions like cancer

Introduction: Most people don’t know it is possible to remove bacteria from your toothbrush by cleaning off any buildup around bristles using hydrogen peroxide solution (3%-6%). It’s not recommended that you do this too often because it will fade away your polishings if done properly

Cannabinoids May Promote a Good Night's Sleep, Study Finds

Humans come in many forms and sizes, but one thing we all have in common is that we all need on sleep to maintain our health and well-being. A regular sleep pattern may aid with weight management, blood sugar stabilization, a healthier heart, and improved mood, in addition to helping to maintain a robust immune system.

This is excellent news for cannabis users, since a group of Canadian researchers recently discovered that insomniacs reported improved sleep patterns after using the drug. The new research, which was published in the Journal of Medical Internet Research, reveals that cannabinoids contained in cannabis, such as THC and CBD, might be used to treat sleep deficiency.

The study, titled “The Use of Cannabinoids for Insomnia in Daily Life: A Naturalistic Study,” reinforces prior results that the natural substance has the capacity to restore normal sleep cycles.

Cannabinoids for Insomnia Treatment

The sleep study’s research team evaluated cannabis use habits in 991 participants who described themselves as insomniacs after collaborating with McMaster University in Ontario. The research participants all self-administered cannabis products in the privacy of their own homes.

The participants used a mobile software application to report any symptomatic changes in real-time after taking cannabis for insomnia. The investigators looked at data from over 24,000 cannabis use sessions that were entered into the app over the course of three years, from February 2017 to February 2020.

The researchers concluded that “the findings from this large naturalistic sample of medical cannabis users who monitored their insomnia symptoms before and after cannabis usage show considerable reductions in insomnia symptoms.” While all of the cannabis strains tested were effective in treating insomnia, indica-dominant and hybrid strains seemed to be more sleep-friendly than CBD-heavy and sativa-dominant strains.

The researchers found that the cannabis plant’s appropriateness as a therapy option is shown by the observed improvement in insomnia symptoms. More research and randomized placebo-controlled studies, on the other hand, are needed to support more tailored treatment approaches for insomniacs.

Previous Cannabis and Sleep Research

The results of the university’s cannabis for insomnia research match those of a 2018 study that looked at patients who smoked herbal cannabis before going to bed. Each cannabis user “reported a statistically and clinically significant improvement (4.5 points on a zero to 10-point scale) in perceived insomnia levels,” according to the findings.

According to a review of available data, CBD may have therapeutic promise for the treatment of insomnia in particular. This study focused on the non-psychoactive cannabinoid’s potential for treating REM sleep behavior disorder and excessive daytime drowsiness.

Another research, named “Cannabis treatments in the management of sleep disorders,” found that cannabinoid therapy may help persons with nightmares induced by PTSD, REM sleep behavior disorder, restless leg syndrome, narcolepsy, and sleep apnea.

Although it hasn’t been shown if CBD, THC, or a mix of the cannabinoids is better for sleep, the researchers who performed the new study say their results give logical reasons for further investigation. “There is a definite need for bigger, thoroughly controlled, longer-term studies on the safety and effectiveness of cannabis treatments for treating sleep problems,” they said in the research.
